Background
There are nearly 2,000 squadrons and over 60,000 members of Civil Air Patrol nationwide. Civil Air Patrol is the Official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

Eligibility
To join Civil Air Patrol as an adult member, or "senior" member, you must be 18. To join as a cadet you must be between 12 and 17. Cadets may remain cadets until they turn 21 at which time they must transfer membership to senior member.

Locations
CAP is divided into regions (groups of states), then wings (each state is a wing), then groups (i.e. Houston area, or Dallas area), then to squadrons.
