Roundrock --
The Sheldon Cadet Squadron, TX802, continues
to shine in the public eye. The Color Guard, winners of Texas Wing and
Southwest Region Cadet Competition, performed the last two weekends at
professional baseball games in San Antonio and Round Rock, proudly
carrying the Colors onto the field at these events.
On April 17th the Color Guard traveled to
San Antonio as guests of the Double-A Texas League's San Antonio
Missions baseball club, a minor league affiliate of the Seattle
Mariners. The cadets marched proudly in the pregame ceremonies before an
estimated crowd of some 2500 people. The following Sunday, April 24th,
the same cadets ventured to Round Rock, the
Houston Astros' AAA Pacific Coast League
representative. There they presented the Colors in front of some 9600
fans.
The excitement of marching onto a
professional baseball field becomes increasingly greater with each
performance. The next venue for Team Commander C/SMSgt Jennifer Johnson,
C/SMSgt Lisandro Rodriguez, C/SMSgt Kayla Stiles, C/MSgt Azeneth Rivera,
and C/TSgt Salatiel Sanchez will be Minute Maid Park, the home of the
one and only Houston Astros. On May 4th, these cadets will show off
their professional ability and pride in carrying our flags in ceremonies
preceding the Astros' game with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The fine reputation of these outstanding
young ladies and gentlemen is spreading as they gain momentum, and they
have become wonderful ambassadors for their Squadron, Group 13, Texas
Wing, and the Sheldon Independent School District in Houston, TX. Stay
tuned for more news on these and other squared-away cadets of the
Sheldon Cadet Squadron as they continue their march to Washington, D.C.,
and the National Cadet Competition in July of 2005.
