1. If you are going to apply for a NCSA that
is ranked and one that is not ranked (IACE, Hawk, COS) you need to
handle things a bit differently. COS will only slot cadets that put COS
down as their first choice! The exception to this is IACE – if COS is
second to IACE they will consider you. IACE has its own process – follow
those rules. Send in a Hawk Mountain application direct to Wing HQ. All
that apply to Hawk are accepted. 2.
Be sure to get all approvals necessary before you send your hard copy
application to Wing HQ.
3.
FILL OUT THE WING RESUME!
4. Squadron Commanders, please check
prerequisites for these activities before signing the applications. Some
have age limits, some have requirements for upper level math, some
require a great deal of special equipment.
5. If you REALLY want to go to a NCSA,
apply for the less popular ones. Most cadets get turned down for Blue
Beret (especially females – they have very limited female quarters). On
the other hand, there are always slots left open at many of the
technology, engineering and weather schools.
6. If you want to go to a NCSA but don’t
have the funds, start looking for scholarships or do fundraising at your
squadron.

Wednesday, November 1 the link will be
activated for the members to apply for national activities for the 2006
season. The November edition of "CAPNews" will have a multi page spread
on every activity. The same information is already accessible at cap.gov/cadets.
The on-time application period will run from Nov 1 to Dec 31.
Applications received after that are considered as late (the program
flags them in the database as late) and will not be given the same
consideration for slotting as on-time applications. The wings have to
have their rankings to me by Feb 23 for slotting. The slotting results
will be completed and emailed to the field by March 21. If possible, I
will send you each a copy of your results a few days before the March 21
release. This will give you a chance for one final scrub before
notification is made.
Cheers,
Don Karle Col. USAF (Ret)
