19 June 2008
BIG SANDY, Texas –
June 19, 2008. Day 5, just a few more days of encampment
left. Today the cadets started out their day just like every other day,
bright and early at 5 a.m. they woke up and went to PT. PT consisted of
the usual, pushups, sit ups, flutter kicks, stretches, and a jog to
finish.
After PT the basics went straight to
breakfast. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit, hard boiled eggs and
juice to drink
They spent a lot of time this
morning drilling and marching to get ready for the Drill Competition for
tomorrow. During this they practiced stationary drill, such as facing
movements to stay together when the command is executed, and they worked
on how to stay in step while marching and how to look sharp while doing
this. It’s all about team work when it comes to these things. Here one
of our goals is to teach team work, and there is no better way to do it
than, drilling.
Next on the schedule for today was
lunch. Today’s lunch consisted of salad, lasagna, green beans and water
to drink.
After lunch they had one class to go
to then it was back to the PIR field to keep practicing for the drill
competition. That was pretty much all they did until dinner. Tonight
they will have a class over military aviation careers. After class they
will have the option to have personal time or attend devotions.
Evening Format:
Honor Flight - Golf
Warrior Flight - Hotel
